Some of the guides got out today to fly fish the Provo River.  It was one of those epic days you’ll always remember.  Dave, Zach, and Andrew all guides for Simply Fishing were on the water together.  We got on the water around 1 and ended at 6.  The fishing wasn’t slow for any part of that stretch.  Andrew within two casts had his first fish on.  That seemed to be the whole day in a nutshell… fast fishing, hot hot hot!  We were all fishing a baetis imitation  as our top fly and a sow on the bottom.  The fish had more sows in their stomachs then in the last couple of weeks.  The blue winged hatch is over.  They will concentrate on the sows until the PMD’s start showing up in late May early June.  We caught 10 rainbows for every Brown.  The lower Provo is starting to have a healthy population of nice rainbows.  We caught several 4 pounders and lost some even bigger ones.  Dave had one bow straighten out his hook.  The fishing has been better in the afternoons, after 12.  Good luck out there!
