Meet the Guides
David Cooper – Owner/Guide:
In the Spring of 2007, David was elated to be informed of the news, that the School of Wig and Prosthetics in Cleveland, had accepted him into their program. Unfortunately the news was short lived, David suffered a major setback to his academic pursuits due to a near death experience involving gardening in his dandelion garden. He fell into a deep depression, and found that the only cure was more fishing! To help with his expensive anti depressant he took up work at Sportsman’s Warehouse from 2007 to 2010. It was there that he learned that helping others to succeed in fishing was far more rewarding than catching fish himself. In 2010 he went on to obtain his degree from his second school of choice, Utah Valley University in sociology. After graduating he took the first decent job available which was in advertising. He enjoyed it quite a bit but it wasn’t his passion so he started Simply Fishing with Zach Emig in early 2012.
Zach Emig - Owner/Guide
Kashoni was born and raised in Utah. He grew up with the Provo River about 100 yards from his front porch. He started to fish seriously when he was around 14 years old. Currently he has fished for 15 years, of which 7 of them have come as a professional guide. His passion is fishing for trout on the rivers and streams. The last 4 years he has been really focusing on other species with the fly rod. He is currently trying to get every species of fish in the state, so far he has caught 25 of them. He really enjoys taking people out on the water, as well as getting to know fisherman from all over the world. The best part of guiding is seeing people catch fish but more rewarding is seeing them catch their first fish.
Robby Hamblin-Guide
Robby was born in California, but learned at the tender age of 6 months that Utah had incredible fishing and that he needed to be raised there. So his family packed up and moved to the beautiful Wasatch front. He spent a lot of time fishing with his father (Bob) and brother (Ryan) throughout his boyhood, but it wasn’t until the age of 12 that he first picked up a fly-rod in the back yard of his best friend’s home. From that point on, he’s been addicted to fly-fishing but still appreciates his boyhood roots when it comes to using a regular fishing pole. Robby’s only rule when you fish with him is that you need to yell “Yee Haw” (as loud as you can) when you get a fish on. This just alerts other anglers that Robby and the crew are out having a blast and making the trout’s lips sore!
Andrew Seegmiller-Guide
Andrew was born and raised in Utah, only five minutes from the banks of the Provo River where he spent almost all his free time. He has been fishing seriously for 10 years now with the last 4 being spent professionally guiding. Andrew has fished in Alaska and Guatemala, along with everywhere else in between. He has a passion for guiding and enjoys taking people out who have never fished with a fly rod before. He enjoys teaching his knowledge of the sport and loves getting people into fish. He also enjoys showing people new water around the state where you can go to find big fish and solitude. You will always enjoy your day on the water with Andrew whether you are returning to fish with him again, or are headed out for your first time with a fly rod.
