Provo River:  Well the bipolar craze continues on the lower Provo!  Yesterday was a really good day, when the day before was pretty tough.  The flows are around 480 cfs which is a great flow.  The moss is ridiculous but don’t fear it!  We have been picking up most of the fish over the moss beds and in the lanes.  They have been taking wine colored and natural san juan worms over the beds.  There was a pretty good PMD hatch yesterday which almost always=good fishing.  The best time to fish has been from 3-6 and from 8-dark.  During the 3-6 period use a pmd emerger and a split case pmd or sow as the bottom fly. From 8 to dark elk hair caddis, caddis pupae, sow.  When we have pumped the stomaches of the fish we have caught we have found either them completely empty or full of extremely small pmd/baetis/sow nymphs (size 20-22).  We have downsized our nymphs to mostly size 18′s and 20′s.

Diamond Fork:  The fishing is pretty good.  Hopper dropper from 1-6 is most effective.  Size 12 dark brown foam hopper with 18 inches of leader with a John “cotton” Candy was the ticket today.  They are picky on the hoppers and would only take size 12 in darker brown colors.  Use a wine colored beadheaded  san juan, John cotton Candy, sow, copperhead shoner, bitch creek as your dropper.
